Rockstar 400 is an abrasion-resistant steel with a hardness level between 360–430 BHN, manufactured by quenching and tempering processes. Its chemical composition consists of carbon (maximum 0.22%), manganese (maximum 1.60%), phosphorus (maximum 0.025%), sulfur (maximum 0.010%), silicon (maximum 0.70%), chromium (maximum 1.40%), nickel (maximum 0.50%), molybdenum (maximum 0.60%), boron (maximum 0.0040%), and carbon equivalent (CE) of a maximum of 0.65%. Mechanical properties consist of a yield strength of 1000 MPa, tensile strength of 1250 MPa, elongation of 12%, and impact toughness of 40 J at -30°C to provide toughness in adverse conditions.
