ASTM A606 Type 4 Corten Steel Sheet and Plate is a low–alloy, high–strength steel with improved atmospheric corrosion resistance. Its composition generally consists of copper (0.25–0.40%), chromium (0.45–0.65%), nickel (0.25–0.40%), and manganese that together constitute a protective rust coating. Mechanical characteristics comprise a minimum yield strength of 50 ksi (345 MPa) and tensile strength of 70 ksi (485 MPa).
