ASTM A588 GR.A/B Corten Steel Sheets and Plates are copper, chromium, nickel, and phosphorus-based alloy steels that contain excellent corrosion resistance and structural strength. Standard composition is 0.19% carbon, 0.75–1.35% manganese, and up to 0.25% copper. These grades provide a minimum yield strength of 50 ksi (345 MPa) and tensile strength of 70 ksi (485 MPa), with strong performance in adverse environments. The steel develops a stable rust-like surface after exposure to weather, with improved resistance to atmospheric corrosion and lower requirement for painting or coating.
