The steel grade has a tensile strength of 440 MPa, yield strength of 370 MPa, and elongation at break of 15%. Its Brinell hardness usually ranges about 126 HB. These conditions render AISI 1018 fit for use in applications that need good machinability, weldability, and formability. It is widely employed in cold-drawn or turned and polished form in order to improve its mechanical properties.
