4140 Alloy Steel Fasteners are made from a chromium-molybdenum alloy that is renowned for its outstanding mechanical properties and durability against wear. The common composition consists of 0.38–0.43% carbon, 0.75–1.00% manganese, 0.80–1.10% chromium, and 0.15–0.25% molybdenum. These factors are responsible for enhanced hardness, tensile strength, and toughness. The fasteners provide tensile strength of approximately 655 MPa and yield strength of about 415 MPa. With satisfactory fatigue strength and impact resistance, they are appropriate for high-stress and high-temperature applications and therefore best suited for industrial applications of high severity.
