S690QL steel is a high-strength structural steel, quenched and tempered, with a minimum 690 MPa yield strength. The chemical composition consists of carbon (maximum 0.20%), manganese (1.70%), silicon (0.80%), phosphorus (0.020%), sulfur (0.010%), chromium (1.50%), copper (0.50%), molybdenum (0.70%), nickel (2.00%), and vanadium (0.12%). Physical properties differ by thickness: for plates of thickness between 3–50 mm, yield strength is 690 MPa, tensile strength is between 770–940 MPa, elongation is 14% minimum, and impact strength is 30 J at -40°C. Such properties render S690QL well-suited for challenging structural uses.
