Carbon steel JIS G3445 pipes contain mostly carbon, manganese, phosphorus, sulfur, silicon, chromium, and molybdenum. The percentage of carbon is usually between 0.20% maximum, with that of manganese ranging between 0.30% and 0.90%. Phosphorus and sulfur are maintained low, usually less than 0.040%, to improve weldability and minimize brittleness. Mechanical properties are tensile strengths of 375 MPa, yield strengths of 215 MPa, and elongation percentages of 30%, depending on the grade. The pipes are made for operating at high-temperature conditions and are best suited for heat transfer applications.
